DIVING About25 metres from the resort beach is a house reef, which is a great place to gosnorkelling. The reef is rich in colour - both coral and fish, but for the moreintrepid adventurers, there is a fully equipped dive base at the resort aswell. Thediving base offers PADI Open Water and Advanced courses. They have instructorswell versed in the dive sites of the area, and are happy to escort you to themany amazing dive spots around Addu Atoll. The distance of Addu to Male’ andother resorts mean the dive sites are very unspoilt and undisturbed.
For more information please check http://www.diverland.com too. Diving Addoo Atoll Divers who expect an abundance of reef fish may be disappointed with Addoo Atoll. But those who want to see wrecks, large manta rays, Sharks, turtles and generally big fish all year around, well be delighted with the diving. There are four kandus in the atoll: Gan kandu, Viligili Kandu, Maa Kandu and Kuda Kandu.
Currents are generally not as strong as in the other atolls so the channels can be dived at the most times. Depths inside the atoll average around 35 meters but it reaches a maximum of 75 meters in the middle. Gan Inside Gan Inside is an ideal beginners dive near the eastern end of the airport runway. Towards the outside of Gan Kandu, there is a small wall starting at five meters. Further inside the channel the reef drops to 14 meters. In those sandy bottom you find very often stingrays and eagle rays.
Mulikolhu Fara (Manta Point) The corner into Viligili Kandu is long and rounded with a gently sloping reef from five to 30 meters. Laying on the bottom are about 35 meters is a large hollw steel ball, 25 meters in diameter. This was one of the buoys used for suporting submarine net across Viligili Kandu. Big barracuda, white tip sharks and huge mata rays are common here. Banana Thila There is a small reef inside Viligili Kandu ideal fr night dives and beginner divers. The reef is half moon in shape and has a beautiful coral garden on the eastern side. Coral heads protude from the reef slope to the sandy bottom at 20 meters. Fish life includes eagle rays, lobster and turtles. Huludhoo Outside This reef is on the east side of the atoll and is a nice drift dive. The top reef is between 5 and 10 meters and drops to about 25 meters. On the sandy bottom you cab see white tip sharks and sting rays. Meedhoo outside The reef is on the north-east side of the atoll. It is a spectacular drift dive. The top reef is on about 5 meters depth and drops to a unknown depth. There are nice small plateaus where you can find sleeping sharks, big napoleons, fusiliers and jack fish. Maakandu outside The outside reef is an easy slow drift dive suitable for beginners with magnificent table and brain corals, school of fusiliers, turtles, eagle rays. A beautiful reef and a absolute joy to dive. Mudakan No diver should miss Mudakan. This drift dive strats outside of Maa Kandu channel and ends inside the atoll. On the east there is a large plateau on about 15 meters with very nice table corals. Huge mata rays up to four meters are common around the plateau. At the entrance of the channel, you can see all different kind of reef sharks, napoleons and fusiliers.
Bushy East Channel On the west side of Maa Vandu Channel is this reef. There are all different types of hard coral between 9 and 24 meters. It is possible to see big lobstors, naploeons, turtles and eagle rays. Sometimes also reefsharks and mata rays. Bushy Outside The outside reef is a slow drift dive wih maginificent table and brain corals. Between the hard coral there are many many coral fish which makes the reef very colorful and there are different fan coral. Napoleons, turltes and eagle rays are often seen. Bushy West Channel The reef on the west side of Kuda Kandu Channel has a beautiful cotal slope dropping to the bottom at 22 metres. There are large coral heads all down the slope and nurse sharks are found. This is an easy drift dive that produces regular sightings of eagle rays, napoleons and turtles. Also barrakudas and whitetip reefsharks are seen.
Mahala The reef is on the west side of Kudu Kandu Channel. It slopes down from 5 to 27 metres. On the sandy bottom there are big coral blocks with different types of hard coral. There are schools of grey snappers, eagle ray and barrakudas. Fihali Fara This is a one km long drift dive along the west side of Kudu Kandu. The reef extends well into the atoll and has big coral heads down the reef face to the bottom at 30 to 35 metres. Fish life includes big red bass, eagle rays, sting rays and turtles. Lots of big gorgonias standing in the current. Kuda Kandu Corner The corner dive is a slow drift dive. The reef slopes from 5 to 25 metres. Outside is a very nice drop off between 20 and 40 metres. You can see green turtles, white tip reef sharks, eagle rays, napoleons and schools of snappers. Special, On one block we have also three leave fish!
Kuda Kandu Outside This is anoutside reef with beautiful hard and some soft coral. The reef slopes from 7to 25 metres. The fish life includes eagle rays, reef sharks napoleon and lobster. One of the best dives for the beautiful table corals in the Maldives.Umarus Place 
Umarus Place This reef is north of Hithadhoo. The dive is a long drop off one. There are many different hard coral, fan coral and some soft coral. The table corals going like steps from the deep up to 5 m. This pace is special for surprise, sometimes high sea fish like sailfish can been seen. Kuda Hoholha This is a very nice wall dive where you can find some small caves. Sometimes you can find nurse sharks resting in the caves. In the wall there grow many different hard and soft coral. For every one visiting Equator Village this is a must do dive. The walls are full with pink colored gorgonias. Gulda Lamago This reef lies to the south east of Kottey and is characterised by a steep slope decorated with hard coral and fine soft coral. There are caves with lobsters and at about 35 metres the reef undercuts itself into a sandy bottom at about 40 meteres. Kottey Outside On the outside reef near Fen Muli are a series of plateaus stepping down at different depths. This is a place with terrific fish life. The dive can only be reached by calm weather and diving is sometimes trenuous to strong currents. British Lovaltry This wreck lies 30 minutes by dhoni from Equator Village, between the island of Maradhoo and Hithadhoo. It is laying on the starboard side and the bottom is at around 33 meters. The port side is at 16 meters and the bow points almost north. The total length of the wreck is 140 meters and it is 20 meters width. Coral grows around the wreck and is really magnificent.
The propellor is at 28 meters and in front of the engine room are two large holes, one on the deck and the other on the keel. A very nice and interesting dive. Turtle point This reef is outside of Gan. It slopes from 7 to 27 metres and you can see many, many turtles.
